Medicover e-Reception – self check-in and card payment kiosk
For Medicover Romania we built e-Reception, a self check-in and self check-out service: patients scan their ID card at the kiosk, are guided to the consultation room and pay by card, all in under 30 seconds.

Medicover is one of the leading private healthcare providers in Romania and the first in the country to introduce an e-Reception service.
Reception queues for steps patients can do on their own
At a clinic's front desk, every patient goes through the same steps: identification, appointment confirmation, finding the consultation room and, at the end, payment. Done at the desk, these steps create queues and load the staff with administrative tasks.
The goal was a digital self check-in and self check-out service, integrated with the clinic's systems, that reduces waiting times and crowding in the reception area.
The solution built by DevTeam
We built the application that runs on the kiosk and its integrations with Medicover's systems. These are the main components.
From arrival to departure, in three steps
Patients go through the front-desk steps on their own, at the kiosk: they identify themselves, are guided to the consultation room and pay, if needed, in under 30 seconds.
On arrival, the patient touches the screen, scans their ID card and gets the appointment confirmed.
The kiosk shows the consultation room where the patient is expected, and a step-by-step navigation system guides them there.
On departure, the patient pays by card right at the kiosk, if needed, and check-out is done in under 30 seconds.
Patients no longer queue for administrative steps, and staff have more time for them.
Integration with POS, cash registers and appointments
The kiosk doesn't work in isolation: it is connected to the systems the clinic already used.
POS integration
Card payments are processed quickly and securely, right at the kiosk, through the built-in POS terminal.
Cash register integration
Payments reach the cash registers, in line with local regulations, which makes payment records simpler.
Appointment system integration
The kiosk talks to the appointment system in real time, so patients get accurate information and guidance to the right room.
The kiosk in the clinic
Each kiosk has a touchscreen, an ID card scanner and a POS terminal for card payment. On screen, the patient is welcomed and guided step by step, from unlocking and identification to payment. The application has a C# backend, and patient data and transactions are stored securely in SQL Server.
